The St Edmund Way Benefice: What is it?A Benefice (in the Anglican sense) is a group of "parishes working together." This Benefice is comprised of the Anglican congregations of six parishes and six places of worship: Bradfield Combust, Gt Whelnetham, Hawstead, Lawshall, Nowton and Stanningfield. To read about our special ministry with Romanian children, click here. Our Benefice was named after the St Edmund Way National Trail (more info) that goes through it, making its way to Bury St Edmunds. In centuries past, Pilgrims would walk this path to the Abbey; now, their destination is the Cathedral of St James.
